Photoshop Experimenting:
Funky Retro Laser Backgrounds

A friend recently asked me if I wanted to try creating some fun backgrounds for a huge festival she’s planning. Of course I jumped at the chance. These laser images are the product of a few hours of intense Photoshop experimenting. Can’t wait to see the finals printed at full-size. They’re going to be huge!
Vampire Photoshop Part 2

I’m sensing a theme with blog posts lately… but I promise this is the end of the vampire stuff for a while. An old co-worked contacted me to ask if I could photoshop a picture of him into a vampire, similar to the one I did of myself. He specified that I could either do an evil/scary type beastie or something a bit more vanilla like the Twilight vampires. I figured I’d do both.
So a few hours later this is what I came up with. An opportunity to play around in Photoshop on a Saturday morning is always welcomed.
Biodiversity Photo-collages

Today at work, I had the opportunity to experiment a bit in photoshop to create these photo-collages (manipulations?) for a project we’re working on. The Alberta Biodiversity Monitoring Institute is putting together a report that required a few descriptive images to showcase species intactness in various areas of the province. These illustrations were created to show the difference between 100% and 0% intactness of native species in the same area.
I only understand about half of the information to be honest.
Luckily we have a few people in the studio who can make sense of this type of stuff and dumb it down a bit for me. Regardless, these illustrations were a fun challenge.
Case Study - Vampire Photoshop

I’m posting a case study for a fun photoshop challenge I took on a few months ago. All the steps are included to show the process of taking a regular photo of myself and turned into a vampire beastie. Since this was a personal experimental project, my source images were gathered from Google image search and won’t be included here. I will say, however, that the source images were two photos of Sir Ian McKellan for wrinkles, some pictures of gorillas, and random photos of men with scrunched up brows. Experiment! Have fun!
